As part of our larger commitment to environmental conservation, JBSS is proud to announce that our Fisher Brand of Food Service Snack and Baking Essentials and our Fisher Chef’s Naturals recipe-ready cooking and baking ingredients product lines feature earth-friendly packaging. This means that the packaging is made with approximately 35% of plant-based sustainable materials.

Our flexible packaging can be called earth-friendly because approximately 35% of it has been made using plant-based renewable resources as opposed to being made from 100% petroleum-based materials. Renewable resources can include plant-derived raw materials from trees and other plant-based products such as corn, soybeans, sugar beets and other plants. This initiative saves over 34,000 gallons of oil annually.

Not only is this new packaging made with plant-based renewable resources, it still provides the same level of freshness and quality you’ve come to expect from JBSS.

In fact, our earth-conscious packaging maintains similar barrier properties as standard packaging film, and all of our products are nitrogen flushed to maintain the shelf life.

JBSS is transitioning from the use of composite can packaging to 42% lightweight PET cans. This conversion greatly supports our REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE initiative. Our new PET packaging will lead to as much as a 75% reduction in annual CO2 emissions and a 40% reduction in packaging material annually (REDUCE). The PET cans are able to be re-used numerous times, (REUSE) and currently, PET has the highest recycling rate in the United States (RECYLCE).

Environmental conservation is a key component of our company’s production process. The use of plant-based renewable resources and PET to create sustainable packaging has positioned JBSS as an industry leader in terms of earth-friendly product packaging.
